There's no doubt this board is shortening the learning curve for me. It is challenging and fun! Thank you Global Surf for the awesome customer service and helping me find the right board to up my game. Cheers!

I had a really great experience ordering this board through Global Surf Industries. They were initially sold out of the Modern Highline 6'8" I was looking for but thanks to their messaging platform I was able to speak with one of their reps who told me that the US was getting a big shipment within weeks. So, he sent me a link to buy the board and a few weeks later... volia, it arrived! I had a great chat with 2 reps actually and they both were super rad. Couldn't be more stoked with my experience and oh yeah.. the board is great too!

Great surfboard! It’s exactly what I was looking for. This 5’10” modern has been perfect for me to improve my turns and technique.
Easy to ride and paddle in small to medium size waves.

I bought a 5'8" Highline for my 9yo son. He loves it. Easy to catch waves and turns well. It a great board.

I surfed on my boyfriends old single fin before I decided to get my own. When I went out with this board for the first time I thought I might have to get used to it and the first session wouldn't be good. But this board is insane!! I immediately got used to it and catched like 80% of the waves I went for (which is pretty good for me since I started surfing a few months ago). I even got my first green wave. My boyfriend who usually uses a short board tried it too and he loved it as well. He said it's even better then his short board ( where we live in northern WA) cause we don't always get the best and biggest swell. It's Fast, super floaty - easy paddle, and maneuvers just like a shortboard. Can 100% recommend, haven't had any issues at all.

I purchased this board a couple of months ago, it arrived on time (as was on back order) but was kept up-to-date on its ETA. Customer service A+
The board itself is awesome for me, stable and loads of grunt for me to improve my skills! Such a great board!

Really surprising package. Excellent paddler and wavecatcher. But the lively performance especially for the heavier guy who can throw it around was surprising. Heaps of lift from the bottom contours and volume makes turns extra spicey.

Great board for a beginner

I bought a 6'8 Modern Highline transitioning from a 8'6 foamie. I wish I had started off on the Highline. So much buoyancy. (I'm 85kg) Take off on any wave with very little paddling power. But the Highline is much more manageable and manoeuvrable than a big board. As a result my surfing skills have improved. My only regret was I bought the clear board. Should have paid extra for the Sea Tint coloured board.

I ought this board at the end of 2018 in 5'10. I have really enjoyed riding and getting to use this board. I got into surfing when I was 4, and then just I stopped surfing. This board was really good at getting me back into it, as the high volume makes it much easier to learn to stand up on, and get the idea of doing small turns. The only down side was that I found it very hard to duck dive under waves, because of the high volume, so I resorted to rolling. However, since I have progressed, I have upgraded to a 7s, Jetstream. The Modern Highline fun to ride and I would thoroughly recommend it to someone who is just starting and looking to get into surfing.

Amazing board!
I was learning to surf but had to stop for a few years, so I consider myself a beginner. So, I wanted the most buoyant one I could get and initially was thinking on the Blackbird. Standing at 1.73m, weighing 73kg, and being reasonably fit, the consultant from the GSI chat recommended the 6’4”. At first, I was skeptical and almost got the 6’8”. But the 6’4” packs an astounding 48 liters, it’s super stable to paddle and pop-up. It requires a bit of practice but I can still maneuver and duck dive it.
I have been surfing for one and a half year, and am amazed on how quickly I progressed and even passed my previous skill level. It really helps you catch a lot of waves, even amongst long-boarders in Noosa, I still caught some waves. I feel this board will stay with me even after I upgrade to a slimmer board.
It is very reasonably priced, you get a lot of value from this board!

I bought a 6'8" Highline about a year ago as my first foray into shorter boards and I LOVE IT! Has really helped me take off in bigger waves with confidence, and has more floatation than I was expecting making it a really fun board in different conditions with a good ability to turn. I also have the Modern Blackbird 8'6" and together they give me heaps of options depending on the conditions. Happy as with my Modern boards.

Amazing board whether you're starting to advance to a shorter board and further develop your turns or whether you're experience and just want something that is a little more forgiving.
Really easy to paddle with its wide build and high volume and has performed well through 1ft-4ft swell.

I bought the 6'8" as a family board for a trip to Sri Lanka, the whole family enjoyed it, but i think I'm enjoying it most - now that we're back in Perth, it gets used on local small waves and the better waves up north and down south. Easy paddle onto waves, enough volume for me at 90kg, loose and great fun. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Just purchased the 6”8 high line for my first board. Paddles great and Moves smoothly in the water. I feel a lot more confident when turning as the board has volume. Would highly recommend for anyone coming down from a longboard or a beginner.
Cheers

I dropped from an 8’ XL Superfish to the Highline 6’4. I thought that a drop this big would be difficult, but the Highline is a super fun board to surf. There’s definitely enough volume to keep you entertained and catch what you paddle for. Really smooth and fun to turn. Would highly recommend the board to someone dropping down in length. Absolutely love it.

Great fun board. Is I am getting older and haven’t surfed in years, I bout this board for the extra volume. Paddles well, can be duckdived easily. Fun to surf

Omg this is amazing, I use to surf a lot a while ago and have recently decided to get back into riding the waves. This board is amazing for that. I'm able to easily get back into the swing of surfing and am enjoying every bit of it. I enjoy getting up before dawn and being out in the water watching the sun rise as I surf. This board has helped me greatly with getting back out there and building my skills back up. And as an added bonus it looks amazing, I live the design and the colours used are like water design. Can't wait to get back out there again today

Love my wee highline. I'm still learning to surf well, but the stability makes it really easy to feel comfortable on a wave and cruise along.

I have had the modern highline for 6 months now It’s super fun in lots of different conditions. I have had quite a few friends keen to give it a try so have lent it out heaps they loved it so much they bought one for themselves!

Great little weapon, its not only a great beginners board because of the volume ratio to board length, but its also great 'fun board' for the experienced surfers out there too

Hey, just wanted to follow up with you about the Highline I bought in February. Finally, took it out a couple of months ago in some mushy hip high waves and was astonished!
Let me rephrase: ASTONISHED!
Because it is 54 liters I thought it would be bulky and slow. I was regretting buy so much board. I compared it to my other fun and short boards when I realized it has more liters (10) than my two 7’6 boards.
Needless to say, I was really skeptical when I took it out to Pacifica in hip high waves. Thought it would be a boat with an old man on it. Lol. First wave I paddled for picked me up and off I went. The stability was amazing. It didn’t try to squirt out from under me. Then I leaned in for a turn and got my mind blown. It turned faster and cleaner than my 5’11 (36 liters) fish and faster than any other board I’ve ever owned. It felt like I was on one of those potato chip 5ft boards. So after a dozen more waves I started focusing on the duck diving and paddling abilities of the board. I found it was easy enough to duck with just the right technique. The paddling was a bit slower than my 7’6, but I was slow and steady. (So use to flying back out to the line up on my long board. I always over paddle)
So I’ve been out on it now in shoulder high waves and have yet to pearl when dropping straight down off the lip for a bottom turn. So I guess the rocker is sufficient too.
Anyway, I simply love this board. I’m 58 and my surfing shorter boards has been reenergized. This board gave me more confidence to get back out on smaller boards. And confidence translates into better surfing. So I think I’ve found my Roseta Stone that has finally opened up all of surfing and my potential.
Thank you again for the great customer service when pitching this board. Hope to see you out at Pleasures one of these days.

Yes this board is an excellent wave catching machine and it paddles really well. It packs an amazing volume into a ridiculously short board. It also turns OK if you stand at the rear but not if you stand forward. It has a lovely cruzy feel that makes you totally chill on a wave.
It is not a performance short board. While it’s not slow you can’t put to much into the rail turns. That is, it’s skatey but definately not carvey.
The nicest feature of this board is, it only wants your back foot to stand on the pad and stay there. Foot placement is totally simple and once you know where to put your feet it’s ride away.
Simple shortboard surfing.
