How to attach a traditional leash string
On some of the longboards that Global Surf Industries produces, you’ll notice that we're using a more traditional leash plug. This is where the string attaches. Here we will show you how to install the leash string
Traditional leash plug
If you look at the board, you will notice a small hole on the deck.
If you turn the board over, you'll see that the hole comes through to the end of the fin box. This is where the leash string goes.
How to install a traditional leash string.
It's super easy to install.
Take your leash string, ensuring the knot is nice and tight, and give the folded end a little pinch. Then start pushing the string down through the hole from the bottom.
You might need a probe or fin key to help push the string down through the hole.
Once your string is through, reach round and stop pulling it from the other end. So the knot ends up in the base of the fin box.
Another method is to take a piece of thin wire and loop it through the end of the string. You shouldn't have any problem guiding the wire down through the deck.
Then it's a simple matter of pulling the string through the hole, and again, make sure that the knot is tight and goes all the way through to the base of the fin box. Now you can attach the leash as normal.
Correct length of the rail saver on your board.
You want to make sure that your rail saver is covering the rail all the way around.
If it's too long and the string is hitting the rail, then you need to shorten the string and obviously repeat the process.
This traditional leash plug works well. It has been a tried and true method for many years, so you can enjoy hassle-free surfing.
